Central Region retains Festival championship trophy

Central Region bagged seven gold and three bronze medals to retain the championship trophy for the second time in the 28th Inter-Regional Basic Schools Sports Festival which ended at Cape Coast on Saturday.

Ashanti Region took the second position with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals, Eastern Region came third with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals, Western Region was fourth with one gold, one silver and a bronze medal while Northern Region came fifth with one gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

Volta Region came sixth with three silver medals, Brong Ahafo Region seventh with one silver and one bronze medals, Greater Accra Region was eighth with one silver and one bronze medals, Upper East Region was ninth with one bronze medal while Upper West Region came last with no medals.

In the final soccer match to climax the Festival, Ashanti Region beat Brong Ahafo Region 1-0 to retain the soccer trophy for the second time.

Mr Samuel Bannerman-Mensah, Director-General of Ghana Education Service was supported by other Directors to present trophies to the winners.
