Mfantsipim Secondary School of Central region emerged champions when they beat St. Augustine's College also of the same region, 5-3 on penalties in the finals of Zone Three inter schools and colleges soccer competition played at the Cape Coast Sports stadium on Monday 29 October 2001.
From kick off, St. Augustine's College took absolute command of the game and opened the scoring as early as the ninth minute through outside left Alex Adjei.
The undaunted Mfantsipim lads returned the attack, and following a series of attacks in their opponent’s vital area, inside-left Felix Danso levelled up the scores before half - time. When the penalty rule was invoked, Mfantsipim won 5-3.
In another encounter, Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School whipped Ghana National College both of the Central Region 4-1 to become the zone one champions.
Ghana National beat Cape Coast technical institute 4-2 on penalties while Asuansi Technical Institute beat Jukwa Secondary School 2-0 to take the third positions in Zone One and Three respectively.
