Adansi North Assembly to spend 398,970 Ghana cedis on projects

Adansi North District Assembly is to spend about 398,970 Ghana cedis to undertake development projects in eight communities.

They are Akrokerri, Nyankomase, Abedwum, Akwansrem, Mensakrom, Ahinsan, Aboabo Number Two and Dompoase.

Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, Adansi North District Chief Executive, who announced this at an assembly meeting at Fomena, said the projects were being funded through HIPC Fund, District Assemblies’ Common Fund and development partners including Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

He said under the Schools Under Tree Project, three communities, Abedwum, Akwansrem and Mensakrom, were each benefiting from a six-classroom block, store and library while Ahinsan and Aboabo Number Two would each have a three-unit classroom block and a store.

Mr Ameyaw said in addition to the projects, the assembly would construct a new assembly building complex at an estimated cost of 858,910 Ghana cedis at Fomena to enhance local government administration.

Other development projects include construction of septic tanks, day-care centres and rehabilitation of quarters for the Adansi North District Magistrate, work on a 345,000 Ghana cedis Small Town Water Project and construction of seven institutional latrines at Fomena.

Mr M. Kow Frieku, Presiding Member, expressed concern about the poor attendance at sub-committee meetings.

He said “much as we have to sacrifice in our services to the assembly, the administration is strategizing to pay allowances and other emoluments promptly”.

Mr Frieku announced that arrangements were far advanced to acquire motorbikes through Zoomlion Company and National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) for assembly members to help address some of their welfare needs.
