New Patriotic Party Flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, together with Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama and NDC Presidential Candidate, John Evans Atta Mills are slated to be presented with national honours by President J A Kufuor on July 3 as part of Ghana's Republic Day celebrations.

The Presidency has also created a new award category, the Grand Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana (for Presidents of the Republic of Ghana), in addition to the existing Order of the Star-Companion, Order of the Star-Member, Order of the Volta-Companion, Order of the Volta-Officer, Order of the Volta-Member and Grand Medal categories.
