Azumah Leaves For Australia

GHANA'S BOXING Professor Azumah Nelson who will leave for Australia next week, met the SOS Village children in Accra yesterday and promised to interact with them after his scheduled fight against Jeff Fenech.

According to Azumah, because he loves the kids and enjoys playing with them, he will organise a party for them when he returns from the forthcoming fight.

Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE SPORTS indicate that Azumah and his trainer will leave Ghana on June 14 for Australia to continue training before the non-title 10-round bout against Jeff Fenech which would be held in the Voda Fone Arena, Melbourne, Australia.

Sources close to the former World Boxing Council (WBC) Champion revealed that Azumah who spent more than four days in Australia last month to promote the fight, also went round with Jeff to make sure that certain facilities were in place for his training before the fight and the beaming of the bout live in Ghana.

Before his retirement, Fenech has a record of 27 wins with 20 of them by way of knockout, three defeats and a draw.

Forty-nine-year-old Azumah came into the limelight at the Madison Square Garden on June 1982 when he defeated Mexico's Sanchez Salvador.
