Oly In Battle Of Survival

These are troubling times for Accra Great Olympics. The Wonder Club need nothing short of divine intervention to avoid relegation after their 0-3 thrashing at home to Ashantigold, an embarrassing loss that resulted in the resignation of the club's management team and head coach last Wednesday.

Olympics' troubles seem far from over as they face another difficult away assignment against Gamba All Blacks at the Swedru Park tomorrow.

All Blacks have taken full advantage of their home grounds, losing just once and drawing twice in 10 outings, whereas the visitors have yet to win away this season.

It is as surprising as it is difficult to explain Olympics' poor results, even though their on-field performance has been impressive. And unless the 'Dade Boys' can pull a surprise in the midst of their troubles, they risk yet another loss at Swedru which would further worsen their predicament.

Struggling Sekondi Hasaacas host mid-table Wa All Stars at the Sekondi Stadium in a game that should favour the home side who are unbeaten at home and should look stronger than the Wa lads who are bad away performers, having lost eight away games this season.

Liberty Professionals' credentials as credible title challengers will be put to test at the El-Wak Stadium tomorrow when they host runaway leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, whose confidence is all-time high.

Kotoko enter the match without leading marksman Eric Bekoe and defender Harrison Afful, but the Porcupine Warriors have strength in depth, with Kwadwo Poku and Stephen Oduro providing scoring options.

Talent is not in short supply for Liberty who lost 1-3 to Zaytuna United last Wednesday, but they must show character if they wish to halt the Fabulous train that seems to be moving with unstoppable power lately.

Defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, have a difficult task at home against the impressive Heart of Lions, arguably the most exciting team in the league, in a game the Phobians cannot afford to lose.

Hearts fans are growing impatient with the club's lack of consistency, and against the dangerous Lions, Eyal Lachman's charges must dig even deeper if they are to avoid any embarrassment.

Other weekend pairings will see Berekum Arsenals visiting the Tema Park to play sinking Tema Youth who are fast becoming draw specialists.

At the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, King Faisal have the upper hand over visiting Zaytuna United, while Ashgold should have little trouble beating Real Sportive at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi.

Abramkese should provide home comfort for Kessben to record their seventh home victory at the expense of tottering RTU, traditionally poor away performers.
