Peemens Company Limited, the construction firm that has been blamed for the shoddy works carried out in respect of the external works at the Sekondi Stadium, has denied being responsible for the said work.

In a statement issued by the company's legal representatives, Gustav and Associates, Peemens, though admitted that it was one of the companies that undertook a contract on the Sekondi Stadium during its construction, categorically denied working on the external works of the project which have deteriorated.

The statement said Peemens could therefore not be held responsible for a job another company had undertaken.

“My client denies that he worked on that external part of the stadium and therefore is not the one that is to blame for work done by another construction firm,” the statement said.

The Graphic Sports had reported on the fast rate at which the external works at the Sekondi Stadium were detoriating as a result of the rains, a situation blamed on shoddy works undertaken by the contractors.

Consequently, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, O.B Amoah, last week told the Graphic Sports that the consultants to the project, MultiGroup Consultants, had recommended that the retention fee to the company responsible for the external works at the stadium be withheld and used to repair the damage caused.
