Former Cote d'Ivoire coach, Uli Stielike, has turned down the opportunity to become Ghana's coach following the departure of Claude Le Roy.

According to KickOff Ghana, a senior Ghana Football Association official spoke to the German about the vacancy but only got a polite 'no thank you' in return.

Stielike told the GFA official that he had an eye on a coaching job with a club side in Spain and will only be available for discussions when he knows his fate there.

With the GFA eager to appoint their new man at least by the time Ghana plays Australia on May 23, the Stielike option has effectively gone out of the window.

Stielike, 53, a former German international, became Ivory Coast coach after their 2006 World Cup campaign but could not lead them to the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations due to the ill health of his son.

But while Stielike turned down the offer, the GFA continues to be inundated with CVs from agents representing one coach or the other all interested in the job including former Orlando Pirates coach, Kosta Papic.
