GTTA National seniors Open this weekend

Beginning this Friday and Saturday mornings, table tennis players from all the Regions and the security services are invited for a two-day player ranking exercise in the National seniors singles Open Championship at the Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

In a press release signed by the Secretary General of the Ghana Table Tennis Association(GTTA), Kwame Amponfi Jnr. Regions and Security services can sponsor as many male and female players as possible.

“However, being an Open Championship, the cost of feeding, accommodation and transportation remain the sole responsibility of participants. The Association will provide water and snack each day,” the release added.Regional Sports Development Officers and Coaches of the National Sports Council(NSC) as well as Sports officers of all security services are humbly requested to co-operate with the GTTA Secretariat for a successful Open championship.The two-day exercise is being sponsored by Squadron Leader Ebo Bartels, chairman of GTTA.Meanwhile, the Association also wishes to bring to the attention of all that, at the just ended African Juniors and Cadets Championship held in Egypt, Ghana won Bronze medal in the Cadets Team Event Boys Division. The medalists were; Akayade Samuel from Koforidua Sec. Tech. and Davies Isaac also from Cape Coast Jubilee School. Akayade has been selected among four other players to represent Africa in the World Junior Championship to be hosted in Sweden in October 2008. Ghana also came 5th and 6th respectively in the Juniors Girls and Boys Team Event category.
