The Managing Director of the SIC Insurance Company Limited, Mr Peter Osei-Duah, has pledged his company's commitment to continue to assist the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to sustain the glamour that has come to be associated with the annual SWAG Nyemetei Cup match.

He made this known when he presented a cheque GH¢ 10,000 to SWAG to help defray part of the expenditure for this year's SWAG match between Asante Kotoko and Ashgold at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

Mr Osei-Duah observed that SIC was proud to be associated with a cause that seems to honour a former employee of the organisation, Mr H.P.Nyemetei, who dedicated his life to the developement of sports.

The SWAG Nyemetei Cup is played annually in honour of the late, Mr H.P Nyamatei, a renowned football administrator and former patron of SWAG, for his contribution towards ensuring that sports chalked up immense success in the country.

Mr Osei-Duah expressed his company's preparadness to consider the expansion of the SWAG cup game from the current two teams to cover four top teams in future.

He recounted the successes of SIC and noted that shortly after they got listed on the stock exchange, the company had over 13,000 shareholders and hoped to continue to expand even beyond the shores of the country.

The SWAG President, Mr Anthony, who received the cheque on behalf of his association, thanked the management of SIC and assured them that SWAG would do everything to ensure that the event retained its exciting unique identity.

He believed that the partnership between SIC and SWAG would grow from strength to strength and assured them that the game between the two teams was going to be a tough battle.
