John Mensah For Portsmouth

The rumour mill involving the transfer of players is at work again. The latest to hit the English press suggests that Portsmouth FC manager, Harry Redknapp wants to buy Ghana and Rennes skipper John Mensah.

The rumour started as a result of another saying that Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell is ready to leave the club, with Redknapp viewing Mensah as the perfect replacement.

The towering defender would fit well into a Portsmouth team already containing many African players. If Mensah were to join Portsmouth he would be playing alongside African players such as John Utaka, Bouba Diop and Kanu.

Mensah is not the first Ghanaian international to be linked with a move Portsmouth, as striker Junior Agogo has also been linked to Harry Redknapp's side too.

Mensah would cost around £5 million and has similar physique and power to former Arsenal and England International player Campbell.
