Raymond Narh Happy In US

Former national super-featherweight champion, Raymond 'Emperor' Narh, believes his switch to the United States has made him a better boxer and his days as a world champion would soon come.He said while Ghana provided the platform for his development, the United States “has thought me a lot” for which he remains grateful.
In an extensive interview, the 1998 Commonwealth Games gold medalist “if you are good over here and the public loves you, you are done”.
He, however, insisted that “Don't get me wrong! The strong fundamentals that I had in Ghana has helped me a lot over here and and I recommend that other boxers should not rush into getting out of Ghana in pursuit of greener pastures”.
Recounting the reasons for shifting camp from Accra to the United States, Narh who now responds to the nickname 'Sugar Ray' in America said frustrations in Ghana forced him to relocate overseas to enhance his profession.
“I was getting frustrated and my career was on hold when I was in Ghana,” he said.In the US, the former employee of Graphic Communications Group has won the Pennsylvania State lightweight title, and has been pushing himself up the ladder of the rankings of the major boxing sanctioning bodies.
“I am number 11 by the IBF and very soon I must fight for the title,” he said, indicating how far he had risen on the world stage.
With a record of 22-1, the 29-year-old Narh has rolled up a fine record that includes 19 knockouts.
