Appiah reps livid over Fener position

Ghanaian star midfielder Stephen Appiah's representatives are furious that Fenerbahce have allegedly both misdiagnosed the player and leaked his confidential medical details to the press and the 27-year-old is now reported to be anxious to leave the club.

His agents claim that the Turkish outfit misdiagnosed Appiah's knee complaint and breathing difficulties as symptoms of asthma; this coming after the player had undergone a course of injections to continue playing for much of last season's league season.

Three months later, after treatment for asthma, Appiah had failed to recover, and had to sit out his country's Africa Cup of Nations campaign, albeit while in Ghana in an advisory role.

Since then, he has apparently learned that his club has sought to freeze his contract, have published his medical details to the press, and have attempted to exercise an extension option to his current deal without his consent.

As such, the agents say that Appiah, while still very much appreciative of Fenerbahce and its fans, is shocked and upset with his treatment by the club management.

Due to the misdiagnosis in particular, the Black Stars'captain is “considering his options”, and while he is highly unwilling to carry out legal action, it has yet to be ruled out.
