AT LONG last Kumasi, the base of teams in Group C of the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations is experiencing the euphoria of CAN 2008 which had for sometime now gripped other venue cities in the country.

Kumasi, which will host Defending Champions Egypt, Cameroon, Sudan and Zambia has not been experiencing CAN 2008 activities as the other venue cities, especially Accra, thus making soccer fans wonder whether the tournament was indeed coming on in the city.

But with the arrival of the Zambian national team last Monday, the Garden City has been bubbling with euphoria of CAN 2008. Indeed, everywhere DAILY GUIDE SPORTS went, soccer fans were discussing the tournament; be it in taxis, chop bars, restaurants, or offices.

A visit to Adum, the heart of the city last Tuesday revealed a sparkling spectacle as sellers of Ghana's paraphernalia were recording colossal sales of their wares which hitherto were not being patronized.

An elated soccer fan disclosed to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that the arrival of the Zambian national team had rekindled the CAN 2008 spirit in the city, adding, “I can now boldly say that the tournament is due and I will surely patronize it”.

Ghana and Guinea will open the tournament on Sunday in Accra , whilst the Group C will get going with a clash of the titans between Egypt and Cameroon on Tuesday January 22 at the furbished Baba Yara Stadium. From Fred J. A. Ibrahim jnr., Kumasi
