2026 World Cup: Ghana will be represented by best players - GFA boss Kurt Okraku
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says Ghana are heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup with belief, insisting the current squad has the quality to compete with the best on the global stage.
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named his 26-man squad for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana, who suffered group-stage exits in both 2014 and 2022, are aiming for a stronger showing this time, and Okraku believes the team is well equipped for the challenge.
“Ghana will be represented by the best players, Ghana will be very competitive, and the target is that we are going to war, and when you are going to war, you don’t plan to lose the battle, and that is the vision," he said on the Delay Show.
"I am extremely confident that we are going to a war and we will win the war," Okraku added.
The Black Stars will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia—one of the toughest groups in the competition.
Ghana begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
