Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, says the Black Stars have settled into their World Cup preparations with strong focus and growing confidence as they step up their build-up in the United States.
Speaking from the team’s training camp, Asante Twum described a positive atmosphere within the squad, noting that both players and technical staff are fully committed to the task ahead.
“We are happy in camp, we are a focused group, we are a determined group, and we want to make a name in this tournament,” he told Nhyira FM.
He explained that the decision to arrive early in the United States was deliberate, aimed at helping the team adjust quickly to local conditions and optimise their preparation time.
“We wanted to come to the USA early, get used to the weather and adjust quickly. The training sessions have been very intense and productive. It’s been very good, and we hope it continues throughout the tournament,” he added.
Asante Twum also indicated that the battle for starting places remains wide open, stressing that no player has been guaranteed a spot in the first eleven.
“There is no starting eleven in the team now. Every player is working hard and fighting for a place,” he noted.
On the technical side, he offered reassurance about head coach Carlos Queiroz, saying the Portuguese manager is fully engaged and focused on building cohesion within the squad.
“Carlos Queiroz is fine and not too worried. He wants to spend more time with the players, understand their thinking and make them believe that on this mission, anything is possible.”
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, and wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
Under Queiroz, Ghana will be aiming to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.
