Zagallo launches Hearts management attack

Hearts of Oak assistant coach Achibald 'Zagallo' Lamptey has launched his first direct attack on the management since he was suspended by the club.

Zagallo was suspended indefinitely by the club on Tuesday for allegedly going on a drinking spree while in camp with the team.

But the coach, who is also a teacher by profession, denied joining the binge drinking culture and said he was not given a hearing before his suspension.

He described the decision to suspend him as 'unwise'.

"It is shocking that the management of Hearts of Oak would suspend me without telling me first," Zagallo said.

"My friends called me at dawn to tell me that it has been published in the official newspaper of Hearts that I have been suspended.

"Do you treat a human being you respect with such disdain? The move is unwise.

"The accusation that I have been drinking alcohol consistently in camp is totally false. The only thing that comes close to that me taking a bottle of Star Beer.

"I am not an alcoholic as it is being said after this news of my suspension came out.

"If they have heard anything of such nature I think they should ask me first before they take any action but to do this to me is unfair.

His fellow assistant coach Jacob Nettey has been demoted to join the junior team Auroras.
