Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals gave their 2007/08 Onetouch Premiership campaign a flying start after sinking King Faisal 4-0 at their Carl Reindorf Park yesterday.

With two goals in each half, the Liberty lads not only recorded the highest score on match day one, but also jumped to the top of the league table.

The assault on King Faisal began as early as the sixth minute when Yaw Antwi struck a 30-yard shot past Faisal goalie Osei Boateng, who was off his line.

King Faisal, who had more speed and possession, went another goal down 25 minutes later after Sam Ayew Yeboah tapped home a rebound from a Kofi Nti Boakye effort at the goal-mouth.

King Faisal resumed the game in the second half with the fresh limbs of Abdul Samad Oppong, Ofosu Mickey and Awudu Abubakar, but it did little to change their fortunes.

In the 74th minute, Sam Ayew Yeboah made good a wasted effort by substitute Mustapha Ebo Essuman, to record a personal second and his side's third.

Liberty Profe-ssionals sealed their victory eight minutes from full time after midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, warded off a challenge from two defenders over a 30-yard dash to shoot past Goalkeeper Osei Boateng.
