Ataa Eddie For WBC Fight Tomorrow

Ghana's soaring boxing image in international circles has spilled over to the domain of referees and judges in recent times.

And two of the nation's ring officials — Ataa Eddie Pappoe and Dan Nunoo Mensah — are flying high the flag of Ghana in the internationa arena.

Barely a week after Nunoo-Mensah was invited to officiate
in an African Boxing Union fight in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, which was his third in the year, Ataa Eddie also left Accra yesterday for Russia to officiate in a WBC Super Bantamweight title bout between defending champion, Collin Otieno of Kenya and Marcel Kasimov of Russia tomorrow.

Ataa Eddie, as he is popular known and President of the African Boxing Union is to be assisted by two other judges — Oleg Lifanov of Ukraine and Victor Panin of Russia. The referee is Adrio Zannoni of Italy.

It would be his fourth high-profile assignment in the year after a similar event in Kenya and twice in South Africa.
Ataa Eddie, also a board member of WBC ring officials, is expected back on December 3.
