Douglas Nkrumah For Hearts ?

One-time Asante Kotoko prolific striker, Douglas Nkrumah, could be heading to the camp of rival club, Hearts of Oak, when the January registration window opens.

Sources say the two parties had a preliminary discussion early this month and the player is said to have demanded ¢250 million, but nothing concrete was agreed upon. However, Hearts officials say they are unaware of any such discussion and a price tag.

But one of the player's managers, who pleaded anonymity, said it was likely the player would join the Phobians.
“It is understandable that Hearts officials would deny the story because we agreed that until the deal is sealed, no one should go to town with it”, he said.

Asante Kotoko were unable to renew Nkrumah's contract after it expired on April 24, this year, due to his “outrageous” demands. He demanded a signing on fee of ¢200 million, which Kotoko considered to be on the higher side.

The source said Nkrumah, 21, may not sign for Heart for more than two years since they were still considering other offers from Eastern Europe.

Contrary to that view, a Hearts source told the Graphic Sports yesterday in a telephone conversation that the deal might fall through because of the way the player treated Hearts some two seasons ago.

He was reported to have snubbed Hearts for Kotoko after training spells with the Accra-based club, apparently for a higher signing on fee.

Nkrumah played for Power F/C for three seasons before leaving for Kotoko.
