Zenith Bank PLC, the title sponsor of the 4-nation tourney which is underway at the Ohene Djan Stadium, on Friday, presented a cheque of $400,000 to the senior national soccer team at a short ceremony at the La Beach Hotel in Accra.

The financial institution is the latest corporate sponsor to sign up with Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.

The amount is to motivate the boys to go all out and win the 4-nation tournament that would be a stepping stone towards annexing the ultimate which is the African Cup of Nations, on home soil.

Mr Frank Kwachie, General Manager, Corporate Banking Financial Institution, observed that this sign was the best way to reward Ghanaians whom they do business with.

“We gave the Black Stars ¢100million before they participated in the World Cup and our support shot up to $400,000 after we also made more profit,” he emphasised.

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, FA president, received the cheque and expressed his appreciation to the bank and added that Zenith Bank had kept faith with the team since their participation in the World Cup.

He stated that the full cost of the 4-nation tourney which is $1million has not been met even though some companies have given financial support to them and that more institutions should emulate the bank's gesture to enable them organise a successful tourney.

The bank has won the bid as the official banking sponsor of the Black Stars and thus becomes the seventh corporate sponsor of the team.

The deal was unveiled by officials of the bank when they presented the cheque to the Ghana Football Association, managers of the Black Stars.
