Over 200 Cyclists set for 2026 Ride Afrique at Accra Sports Stadium

More than 200 cyclists are preparing to compete in the 2026 edition of the annual Ride Afrique bike race, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event, endorsed by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and sanctioned by the Ghana Cycling Federation, seeks to promote cycling and reward talented riders from Ghana and across Africa.

“Ride Afrique has become a benchmark event for cycling in Ghana and Africa and we are excited to witness the continued growth and interest in the sport,” said Richard Agu, Chief Executive Officer of Ride Afrique.

Male and female cyclists will compete in separate categories, covering 30 laps over 105 kilometres and 15 laps over 52.5 kilometres respectively.

Mr Agu indicated that preparations are at an advanced stage, with comprehensive measures in place to ensure a smooth and successful competition.

“We have put in place all the necessary arrangements to make this event a huge success and we are looking forward to an exciting competition,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to sponsors and partners for their sustained support, describing their contributions as critical to the development and promotion of cycling in Ghana and across the continent.

“We appreciate the support of our sponsors and partners, which has been instrumental in making Ride Afrique a success. We remain committed to promoting cycling in Ghana and Africa,” Mr Agu added.

As part of efforts to broaden exposure for local talent, he revealed that the male winner of this year’s race will enjoy a cycling exchange experience with an organisation in Spain.

“This exchange programme will not only encourage more participants but also project Ghana’s cycling identity onto the international stage,” he noted.

Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes, equipment and products from sponsors.
