A circuit court at Nkawie has sentenced Yaw Afriyie, a driver's mate, to six years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing three mobile phones.

He pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.

Chief Inspector Robset Yitamkey told the court presided over by Mr. Noble Nkrumah that on October 31, this year, at about 0800 hours, one of the complainants, Kojo Frempong, an electrician went to charge the phones at workshop.

Prosecution said Frempong left the workshop and the accused sneaked into the facility and disappeared with the phones.

Chief Inspector Yitamkey said a witness in the case reported his behaviour to the police.

The accused admitted that he had sold the phones but could not assist the police to arrest the buyers of the communication equipment.
