Ghana would make its debut in the women's Under-17 football competition when the qualifiers for the maiden FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup begins.

The maiden competition for women would be hosted by New Zealand.

The female team has been drawn against Zambia in the preliminary African qualifiers beginning next year.

Ghana would be away first on the weekend of January 4 – 6 before hosting the reverse fixture between 18 to 20 January.

Winner of the two-leg tie play against the winner the Zimbabwe - DR Congo clash in the first round.

The winner of the first round qualifier secures a place for the maiden junior football competition for women.

The first leg of the first round is fixed for May 2 - 4, 2008 with return scheduled for May 16-18, 2008.

Africa has three places for the championships, slated for October 30, 2008 - November 16, 2008 in New Zealand.
