Dr. Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations (ACN), Ghana 2008 tournament, has on behalf of his outfit expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor for the support and resources allocated so far to facilitate Ghana's successful hosting of the continental fiesta from January 20 to February 10, 2008.
He thanked Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Alhaji Issa Hayatou, CAF executive committee members, presidents of the 53 national federations affiliated to CAF and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their participation in the CAF draw held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Friday October 19, 2007.
Dr. Amoah also expressed LOC's profound gratitude to the good people of Ghana for their continuous support of the activities and events of the committee as it prepares to host the 15 countries that have qualified for the Ghana 2008 tournament, urging the GFA, the coach and the technical team of the Black Stars to do their utmost best in their preparations to help win the nations cup for a record fifth time.
“We hope that individual and collective efforts across our great nation during the few weeks left to the opening ceremony will create national unity and spiritual focus comparable to the atmosphere our maiden qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany engendered to spur us on to host a successful and a memorable tournament,” a statement from the LOC Secretariat noted.
