Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has offered a glimpse into the club’s preparations ahead of their much-anticipated President’s Cup showdown against fierce rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The annual fixture, held in honour of the sitting President, will this year celebrate John Dramani Mahama, who recently assumed office.
While Asante Kotoko have already bolstered their squad with seven new signings, Hearts of Oak have yet to announce any additions due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban related to the Salim Adams case. Despite the restriction, the Phobians have reportedly been in contact with several potential recruits.
Nevertheless, Dramani’s side has been hard at work at the Kpobiman Training Complex, fine-tuning their tactics and building momentum ahead of the clash.
Facing his former side, Dramani sees the President’s Cup as an opportunity to showcase his vision for Hearts of Oak under his leadership.
“We resumed training on the 23rd, and it’s been important to evaluate the squad and understand what we’re working with,” he said. “This match presents a great chance to introduce our new identity and give fans a preview of the Hearts of Oak we’re building.”
He also stressed the significance of the rivalry: “Every coach and player in Ghana knows what it means to face Kotoko. The players are well aware of how important this game is.”
The President’s Cup match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
