Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Ofori has made it clear that retirement is not on his mind anytime soon.
The former Orlando Pirates shotstopper has been a standout performer for AmaZulu in the South African Betway Premier League, registering nine clean sheets in 22 appearances.
His impressive form helped him claim the number one spot, surpassing Veli Mothwa.
In an interview with KICK OFF, Ofori emphasized that he still has many years left in his career and dismissed any rumours about retiring or leaving AmaZulu.
He expressed his satisfaction with life at the club and his commitment to their ambitions.
"I’m thinking about it (retirement) in a sense of planning ahead, you know. But not in terms of I’m thinking of retiring soon, no. I think for a goalkeeper, I still have many playing years in me," Ofori said.
Ofori also praised the club’s environment, describing AmaZulu as a big team with great ambitions and a welcoming family atmosphere.
"I’ve recently joined this beautiful family at AmaZulu, and it’s a big team with big ambitions. It’s an awesome environment and a great family.
"The team is good, the players, the management, everyone is loving. So, I am enjoying my football.
"I’m working hard to help the team achieve these ambitions and fulfil what we believe is the team’s potential. Overall, I’m very happy."
After finishing sixth in last season’s league, Ofori and AmaZulu aim to secure a top-four finish in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign, which would see them return to continental competition.
On the international front, Ofori has been absent from the Ghana national team since their early exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
