Despite being an unused substitute in the final, Salis contributed to Sunderland’s successful campaign, making ten appearances during the regular season while on loan from French club RC Lens.
Sunderland came from behind to clinch promotion after Tyrese Campbell opened the scoring for Sheffield United in the first half.
The Black Cats responded strongly in the second period, with Eliezer Mayenda leveling the score before substitute Tom Watson netted a dramatic late winner to seal the club’s return to the top flight after eight years.
Salis’s season was hampered by injuries, but he impressed in his limited outings, demonstrating his quality and resilience.
Sunderland now has the option to either make his move permanent or extend his stay with another loan spell.
The 24-year-old is also expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in London.
