Abdul Hakim Sulemana, a rising star with Ghana’s U-20 team, has expressed his ambition to eclipse the achievements of his elder brother, Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Kamaldeen made a name for himself in France’s Ligue 1 with Stade Rennes before sealing a move to English side Southampton, attracting attention from several elite European clubs along the way.
But for Hakim, who currently plies his trade in Denmark with Randers FC, the goal is to carve out an even greater legacy.
“He [Kamaldeen Sulemana] set the standard, but I want to go higher. We all played football in the compound, in the streets. Kamaldeen always pushed me," he told CAF Media.
While he holds deep admiration for his brother’s accomplishments, Hakim is determined to build his own identity in the game.
"I admire what Kamal has achieved, but I want to be known for my own journey," he added.
Hakim was a standout performer for the Black Satellites at the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana exited in the quarterfinals after a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout loss.
Despite the team’s early exit, Hakim shone individually, earning Man of the Match honors in games against DR Congo and Egypt.
