GFA will soon announce a headline sponsor for Ghana Premier League - Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has assured football fans and stakeholders that the Association is working diligently to secure a headline sponsor and broadcast partner for the Ghana Premier League.

The 2024/25 season is currently underway without a title sponsor or television rights deal, raising concerns among clubs, analysts, and supporters about the league’s visibility and financial sustainability.

Speaking during an interview on Metro TV, Mr. Okraku acknowledged the concerns and confirmed that the GFA will soon announce steps being taken to address the situation.

"In the next few days, the GFA will be making an announcement on the way forward. I occupy the space as the President of the FA. I have come to this space to lead the governance. It gives independence to various arms," Mr Okraku said.

He also stressed that clubs have a responsibility to remain competitive, stating, "It's the responsibility of clubs to be competitive. If I were a superior being, I should be ensuring my teams stay afloat, but they are relegated."

His remarks come amid growing frustration over the league’s lack of commercial backing, which many argue is hindering its development.

Clubs continue to face financial challenges, while fans have expressed disappointment over the absence of sponsorship and limited media coverage.
