President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says Nsoatreman Football Club's decision to quit the Ghana Premier League is 'unfortunate'.

The Twumasi-based club confirmed their withdrawal from the ongoing 2024/25 season due to concerns over the "security and safety" of their players after Kotoko fan, Francis Frimpong aka Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death at the Nana Kronmansah Park during a league game on February 2.

Their decision to resign followed an alleged attack by unknown persons in Kukuom in the Ahafo Region when Nsoatreman travelled to face Samartex at Bibiani Duns Park.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Okraku touched on the impact of the decision.

"It’s unfortunate because Ignatius Baffour Awuah is my good friend. For somebody who has invested in football to go through that is unfortunate," he said.

"At the end of the day, it’s their decision and not mine. It’s important that at a point in time, you respect people’s decisions," Mr Okraku added.
