AFC Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semenyo, says he has been praying to score after steering the Cherries to a win against Fulham on Monday night.
Semenyo, whose last Premier League goal came on December 15, 2024, in a 3-0 victory against Manchester United, scored the only goal as Bournemouth ended their six-game winless run.
"Yes, I’ve been praying about it for the last couple of weeks. Whenever a goal will come, just bless me with a goal that comes today, relieved," he told AFC Bournemouth TV.
"It’s been a while, but again, it happens to every player. So I wasn’t too hung up on it. Just do all the basics I can for the team, and then the goal will come," he added.
After the match, the forward underlined the squad’s determination to finish the season strong and secure a place in a continental competition.
"I feel like the manager has been banging on all week about make or break for us with the European journey. We needed to get three points, and thank God we got the three points. So, on to the next, really step by step, again," he added
The result leaves Bournemouth in the top half of the Premier League table, within touching distance of the European spots.
Semenyo, who has equalled Michael Essien's goal-scoring record in the Premier League, will hope to continue his impressive goal-scoring form when Bournemouth travel to play Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park on Saturday.
