Former Ghana goalkeeper, Abukari Damba beleives Benjamin Asare is hungry to leave a mark in Black Stars following his superb performance in his maiden call-up.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in his first two games. Asare kept the post against Chad as the Black Stars recorded a thumping 5-0 win against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium before a 3-0 win against Madagascar in Morocco on Monday.
Reacting to the performance of the former Great Olympics goalkeeper, Damba said he is convinced that Asare has proven beyond doubt that he wants to make a mark at the senior national team.
“Benjamin Asare has proven beyond doubt that he is hungry and wants to make a mark in the Black Stars,” he told Sporty FM.
The former Dreams FC goalkeeper’s trainer also praised the Black Stars players for accepting him.
“The whole Black Stars team has accepted him for who he is. They trust and respect him.”
Asare has kept 12 clean sheets in 19 games for Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League this season and added two more during the international break, further boosting his confidence.
He will be hoping to retain his position when the Black Stars engage in a four-nation tournament in June before taking on Chad and Mali in the Matchday 7 and 8 games of the qualifying games.
