Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says disclosing the budget for the Black Stars’ before the games against Chad and Madagascar would have destabilised the team.

The Black Stars hosted Chad before flying to play Madagascar all in the Matchday five and six games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

However, the budget of the team was not released contrary to what President John Mahama promised in his State of the Nation Address on the floor of Parliament.

Explaining why the budget was not made public in an interview with Asempa FM, Kofi Adams indicated that revealing the budget would have been a distraction to the team.

“People were asking me to disclose the budget for the games, but I kept asking myself what the budget would do for the team ahead of the games?" he said.

"Sometimes, some situations create distraction for the team, so we would weigh every situation before making a decision," he added.

The Black Stars secured a 5-0 win against the Chadians before a 3-0 win over Madagascar. Ghana now sit top of Group I with 15 points from six games.
