Black Stars striker, Antoine Semenyo says their emphatic 5-0 win over Chad in a 2026 World Cup qualifier will boost the team’s confidence in upcoming matches.
The senior national team struggled in front of goal, scoring only three times in their last six games, a poor run that led to their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
After the impressive win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night, the AFC Bournemouth striker said it will boost their confidence.
“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said after the match.
Goals from Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohamed Salifu, and Ernest Nuamah secured all three points for the Black Stars.
Ghana will be hosted by second-placed Madagascar in the Matchday six games of the qualifiers on Monday, March 24, in Morocco at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium.
A win in the upcoming game would further solidify the Black Stars’ place at the top and move them closer to securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
