President John Dramani Mahama has reassured the Black Stars that Ghanaians still believe in them despite their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
During a surprise visit to the team on Wednesday, Mahama acknowledged their recent struggles but expressed confidence in their ability to turn things around.
“We didn’t qualify for the AFCON. But even when we qualified for the AFCON, we crashed out very early the last time. And so we haven’t given up on you.
"We still believe that the Black Stars can find its glory again. And it’s dependent on you, the technical team, and the management committee,” he noted.
He reminded the squad that while the country stands behind them, their success will ultimately be determined by their dedication and performance on the pitch.
“The goals will come from these feet that are right here. And so it takes sacrifice. It takes strength. We all like to watch you when you play for your teams, and we expect that you bring some of that dedication to the national team.” he said.
The Black Stars are preparing for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, facing Chad on Friday, March 21, before taking on Madagascar three days later in Morocco.
After managing just two wins in 10 matches in 2024, Otto Addo and his team are determined to start 2025 on a stronger note.
