Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured President John Mahama that the team is determined to turn their fortunes around ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana is set to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday before travelling to Morocco to take on Madagascar in their Matchday five and six fixtures.
The Black Stars have struggled in 2024, managing only two wins in their last 10 matches. However, during a visit to the team’s training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, Mahama offered words of encouragement to the players ahead of the must-win encounters.
Ayew acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back.
“It’s a big sign that you’re here supporting us. We know we’re in a tough situation, but we’re not afraid. We will turn things around on Friday, so you can relax. We’ll do the job for the nation,” Ayew assured.
After missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades, the Black Stars are eager to redeem themselves and keep their World Cup hopes alive.
