The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama has fully backed the Black Stars’ budget for the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Discussions surrounding the national team’s budget have often been controversial, but with crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar approaching, the government is ensuring the necessary resources are provided.
Speaking after attending the Black Stars' training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, March 17, 2025, Mr Adams assured that the ministry, with the president’s support, is committed to meeting the team’s needs.
“We will support whatever we have to do, and the president is supporting us to ensure we take care of the necessary things,” the Member of Parliament for Buem constituency said.
The Black Stars currently sit second in their group with nine points from four matches. Winning their upcoming fixtures will be crucial in strengthening their chances of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
