Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has expressed his delight after earning his maiden call-up for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Madagascar.

The 32-year-old is one of the three local players who earned a call-up to the Black Stars for the games.

Speaking afterwards, the Hearts of Oak captain disclosed how excited he is for this platform handed to him and is looking forward to cementing his spot in the team.

"I give thanks to the almighty God for the opportunity for giving me this big platform and to the technical team also for trusting me. I'm grateful to Ghanaians for their support."

Benjamin Asare has been outstanding since joining the Rainbow Club and currently has an impressive 12 clean sheets in 19 matches.

Other local players include Kamaradini Mamudu and Razak Simpson of Medeama SC and Nations FC respectively.

The Black Stars are currently in second place in Group I with 9 points and will face Chad in match-day five this Friday, March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to play Madagascar in Morocco on Monday, March 24.
