Former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari has taken a swipe at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the seeming neglect of Abedi Pele.
The UEFA Champions League winner urged the governing body to involve legendary ex-players like Abedi Pele in key administrative roles to revitalize the nation’s struggling football sector.
Speaking to 3Sports, the former AC Milan and Inter Milan midfielder questioned the GFA’s exclusion of icons during an interview with 3Sports.
“Let’s ask ourselves, where is Abedi Pele? Why isn’t Abedi coming around? Why is Tony Yeboah not coming around?” Muntari demanded, emphasizing that these “triple legends” possess unmatched expertise.
“When Abedi Pele is in the system, you put him in the right place. I’m not talking about coaching.”
Muntari’s critique comes amid Ghana’s football crisis, including a failed 2025 AFCON qualification and infrastructural neglect.
Abedi Pele, a three-time African Player of the Year and 1982 AFCON winner has long been hailed as Ghana’s greatest footballer, yet his administrative involvement remains limited.
