The head coach of King Faisal FC, Prince Acheampong, commonly referred to as Sabuto, has sadly passed away after a prolonged illness.
He was appointed to the Division One League club on January 5, 2025, following the dismissal of Barnabas Awuni due to the team's poor performance at the start of the 2024–2025 season.
Acheampong, aged 52, died on Tuesday afternoon after spending two weeks in the hospital. Sources from Metro TV confirmed the news. Known as ‘Tactical Sabuto,’ he had a wealth of coaching experience, having managed various clubs, including serving as the assistant coach for Asante Kotoko during the 2010–11 season. His coaching journey also included leading Fabulous Ladies FC and Dunkwa United.
Additionally, he coached the boys' soccer team at Opoku Ware School (OWASS), guiding them to a commendable third place in the Ashanti Regional Inter-School and Colleges competition in 2024. Acheampong held a CAF License A certificate and was instrumental in leading T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS (T.I. AMASS) to victory in the Ashanti Regional Inter-School Competition from 2016 to 2018.
