Asante Kotoko has halted all football activity following the death of one of its fervent followers.
The Porcupine Warriors family was dealt a huge blow when Francis Yaw Frimpong, aka Pooley, was stabbed to death at the Nana Koramansah Park.
According to Kotoko, they are heartbroken by the loss of their supporter but they will stand united and ensure reforms in Ghana football.
“Kotoko wished to state that all footballing activities of the senior team are on hold until further notice.
“Our stance remains unchanged; we will not resume football duties until justice is served, and concrete steps are taken to prevent such barbaric acts from happening again.
“In the meantime, management has decided to suspend all activities relating to football on the pitch until further investigations into the matter,” a club statement said.
Asante Kotoko also acknowledged the invitation received from the Ghana Football Association as they seek to address issues concerning hooliganism.
“We will honour the invitation and lead the charge to ensure that this painful moment serves as a turning point for Ghanaian football.
“It is time to end the cycle of violence, hooliganism, and lawlessness that threatens the integrity of our game,” the statement said.
Kotoko added that they were in constant communication with the bereaved family as further details regarding his funeral would be announced.
