Liverpool legend Michael Owen believes that Antoine Semenyo has the potential to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield, should the Egyptian star decide to leave the club.
Owen’s comments came after Semenyo scored in A.F.C. Bournemouth's 2-2 draw with Chelsea.
The former striker has been impressed with the Ghana international's performances this season, suggesting he could be a strong candidate to bolster Liverpool's attack if Salah departs.
"Semenyo is a brilliant player," he said on Premier League Productions.
"He scores goals and we don't know if Mohamed Salah will leave or stay but if he leaves, Semenyo should be his replacement at Liverpool," he added.
Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, allowing him to negotiate with other clubs starting in January. Liverpool has yet to offer him a new deal, fueling speculation about his next move.
So far, Semenyo has netted seven goals this season and will look to maintain his impressive form when Bournemouth faces Newcastle United at St. James' Park this weekend.
