Kwesi Appiah, the Head of Sporting Affairs for Asante Kotoko, has announced that the club will soon appoint an assistant technical director to support their operations.

Appiah, who recently stepped down from his role as the club's technical director, expressed confidence in the new leadership structure.

The Porcupine Warriors have appointed club legend and former coach Malik Jabir as the new technical director, marking a significant shift in their technical team.

Explaining the decision, Appiah, who also serves on the Ghana Football Association's Executive Council, commended Malik Jabir's readiness for the role.

He emphasized that the club plans to name an assistant who will work closely with the team.

"He [Malik Jabir] is a former player and he is willing to do that work. He is willing to travel with the team and for the games that he cannot travel with the team, his assistant will join the team and assist Prosper Nartey Ogum," Appiah told Asempa FM.

In related developments, Prosper Narteh Ogum, who was part of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), has been relieved of those additional duties to fully concentrate on his role as head coach of the team.

Asante Kotoko is gearing up for a highly anticipated clash with their rivals, Hearts of Oak, at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The match, part of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League’s Matchday 13 fixtures, is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.

The game comes after a week-long league break and is expected to reignite the fierce rivalry between the two football giants.
