Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi reacted to the state of football following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The four-time African champions failed to win a single game in the qualifying series and finished at the bottom of Group F with three points, recording three draws and three defeats.
The situation has intensified scrutiny on the GFA and the technical team, with many calling for drastic changes.
Speaking to Lawson FM in Kumasi, Nyantakyi expressed both disappointment and optimism while calling for strategic changes in player selection.
“I don’t think all is lost, but we have to fix it,” he stated.
“We have World Cup qualifiers in March against Chad and Madagascar, and I believe that the right players will have to be called for these games.
"It should not be the normal call-ups but players who are ready and dedicated to play for the country and the shirt.”
The Black Stars will return to action in March 2025 for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
