Ben Nunoo Mensah, president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has expressed support for calls to remove Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars.
The 47-year-old coach has faced intense criticism after failing to lead the national team to a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars delivered their poorest performance in recent qualifiers, finishing at the bottom of Group F with just three points from three draws and three losses.
This marks the first time in 20 years that Ghana, a four-time AFCON champion, will not participate in the tournament, set to be hosted in Morocco next year.
In an interview, Mensah stressed the need for accountability, stating that Ghanaians have every right to demand Otto Addo’s dismissal.
"Ghanaians have every right to call for the sack of the coach," he told Asempa FM.
"I believe that somebody must take responsibility for Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON tournament. For failing to win a single game in the qualifiers and also failing to qualify for is a total embarrassment," he added.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars will aim to improve their performance when they face Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled for March 2025.
The future of Otto Addo remains uncertain as the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to make a final decision following a lengthy meeting last week to review his technical reports and assess the team's underperformance.
