The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has pledged that they are focused and committed of restoring the glory days of the Black Stars.
This comes following the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the first time in 20 years, finishing bottom of their group, without recording a single victory.
The GFA has since met with Head Coach, Otto Addo, to review his technical report, and has communicated the displeasure of Ghanaians towards the team’s recent results to the coach, according to a statement released on Friday.
In the statement released on Friday, the Ghana FA reiterated its intention to organize a stakeholder forum, to pick thoughts from football fans from all walks of life concerning the decline of the Black Stars.
“The GFA remains committed to taking holistic decisions, in conjunction with key stakeholders for the good and growth of Ghana football, with a strong emphasis on the senior national football team, the Black Stars. This process will be enabled by the collective will and single-minded focus to restore the glory of the Black Stars,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Black Stars have dropped to 77th in the FIFA World Rankings, after the disastrous run in the AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars will regroup in March 2025 for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
