There were no significant changes as Ghana consolidate her 28th position on the latest FIFA World Ranking table released on Wednesday.

Ghana occupied the same position the ranking for the month of April after having dropped from 19th place held in March.

With no international fixtures for the past month recorded in the EURO 2008 qualifiers and for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2008, little changes occurred on the ranking table.

The devaluation of defeats in the past and strong performances over the last few months also contributed to the current standings.

Ghana still sticks with the 813 points accumulated during the last month are still fourth best with Cameroon in pole position and the Ivory Coast holding onto second spot while Nigeria are third.

Ghana, by virtue of being host of the 2008 African Cup of Nations are not taking part in the continent's qualifying campaign and have thus been affected by the calculations over the past months.

According to FIFA, country's who do not participate in any of the competitive major tournaments or qualifying series at the senior level drop valuable points.

May's ranking also sees world champions Italy consolidate their position on top the rankings after surprisingly ending Argentina's brief, one-month reign.

The Argentines however drop a step down from second to third after being overtaken by Brazil who recorded two victories in friendly matches in March.
