By Patrick Kwame Akoto

Premier league side, Ashanti Gold will decide by noon today whether or not they will participate in the GHALCA organised top Four competition. GHALCA were locked up in a marathon meeting with the 4 clubs in an attempt to lay down the modalities involved for the lucrative off-season tournament but the Miners could not reach a compromise with the umbrella body of the clubs with respect to the venues to be used. A stand-off has existed between the two parties following Ashgold's insistence to use their favourite Len Clay Sports Stadium at Obuasi as their home ground despite GHALCA's decision to use the Sunyani Coronation Park and the Robert Mensah Stadium at Cape Coast as the preferred venues. It can now be said that Berekum Arsenals are itching to replace Ashgold as the Obuasi-based club is holding the three other clubs to ransom. The representatives of the Miners will get back to GHALCA by midday today with their decision after conferring with their Board.
