Ashgold To Play Top

Ashantigold have confirmed their participation in this year's Top 4 but still insist that a final decision will depend on the outcome of a meeting of the various participating clubs on Wednesday.

Wednesday's meeting is expected to bring together representatives of Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, Ashantigold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in what is expected to iron out all disputes to enable the competition to roll.

The miners and the organisers, the Ghana League Clubs Association, (Ghalca) have been embroiled in a feud over the terms of the deal for this year's competition, which kicks off May 27, 2007.

Ashantigold want the financial details spelt out clearly before they rally their men into the competition. They are also challenging the decision by the organisers to restrict the competition to two venues- Cape Coast Robert Mensah Park and Sunyani Coronation Park.

However, after a decisive meeting last Friday, Ashantigold, who had earlier threatened to boycott the competition, agreed to participate in it.

Mr Kudjoe Fianoo,CEO of Ashantigold, told the Daily Graphic that his outfit had not reneged on their demands, insisting that they were still crucial to the participation of his club.

He said Ashgold supporters were not ready to travel to Sunyani because a good number of them were under a bond of good behaviour following the disturbances in the aftermath of their Onetouch premier game at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Fianoo said based on the outcome of the meeting, Ashgold might finally decide to play.
